SEM plastic, one of the leading institutions of its sector with its disposable food packaging products, was awarded with the “Energy Efficiency project for thermoform production”at the “Environmental Awards” organized by Istanbul Chamber of Industry (ISO) for the 13th time this year. Ford Otosan, Eczacıbaşı Vitra and SEM Plastik won the first three awards in the “energy efficiency application awards” category.

SEM plastic Chairman Yavuz Eroğlu, who received his award from Environment and Urban Planning Minister Erdoğan Bayraktar, developed a method related to the “energy efficiency in thermoform Production” Project, “while keeping the stability of plastic cups constant, reducing the amount of non-renewable resources used in them and minimizing energy consumption in doing so.  With this method, plastic cups can be produced using much less energy and resources than other competitors. We would like to thank all sector representatives who follow us and support us in line with our growth targets. This award is really meaningful at a time when the plastics industry wants to be confused with unjust businessmen., ” he said.

Plastic cups contribute greatly to the Prevention of pollution of the sea by detergents and to the Prevention of epidemics

Disposable plastic cups and plates contribute greatly to the Prevention of epidemics. 17. considering that in the 20th Century, 25 percent of people in Europe died of only infectious plague, plastics are better understood. Disposable plastic products, as well as washing alternative products, eliminate the negative effects of detergents that are mixed in the sea and water resources, and provide the superiority of hygiene. Without plastic, the packaging weight quadrupled, production cost and energy consumption doubled, and the waste volume increased by 150 percent.

Gaining Energy Efficiency Project In Thermoform Production In All Aspects

SEM plastic will also contribute to the goal of reducing the energy losses experienced by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanism in Turkey by 16 percent in the next 10 years. The details of the project are as follows;

* 25 thousand tons of waste per year in the amount of waste throughout the country,

· Nation-wide blocked gas emissions of 8.25 million pounds of carbon dioxide emissions,

* An 8.3 percent increase in production efficiency,

 In the scope of the “green business”and “green economy” trends increasing both in Turkey and in the world, ISO has received awards in the categories of “Innovative Eco-Friendly Products,” "Energy Efficient Products, "" environmental friendly and energy efficiency application "and" Environmental Management and Corporate Social Responsibility".
