Meals will cook in the oven with BORPLAS

 the planes are lighter than 500 kilos!

SEM Plastik, which produces service equipment for plastic food packaging and Air way companies, realized a first in Turkey and managed to produce non-molten plastic plates in the oven. The dishes can be cooked at 200 degrees Celsius in the home-style electric ovens in Borplas, which is much lighter than porcelain, and served on the same plate. Moreover, the dishwasher can be washed and used again. The plastic plate that is not melted in the oven, which is the first in Turkey, is produced by only three companies in the world. We will only be able to see borplas on Pegasus Airlines ' businessclass flights for the time being, but SEM Plastik continues its efforts to make this product available in homes in the future.

SEM plastik, which produces plastic service equipment to more than 30 prestigious airlines in Turkey and around the world, is a company known for its innovative products in the sector. The development process of borplas began when Sem Plastik's client, Pegasus Airlines, wanted to offer special treats on business class flights. Porcelain looks, but will not break like porcelain and light, so fuel savings on the plane would be provided. In addition, the normal kiln should be in a structure that will not melt at 200 degrees Celsius and that can be heated in food.

A similar product produces only three companies in the world, but at very high prices and sold only to the customers wanted. Sem Plastik started to work immediately on the incoming demand and as a result of the R & D process which lasted nearly 1.5 years, the product was developed. We worked with a U.S. petrochemical and R & D giant in raw materials. During Borplas ' trials, experts in R & D at SEM Plastik noticed that some dishes such as curry sauce and eggplant left stains on the plate after a while. Examining the products of foreign competitors, the same problem was found in these layers. We continued to work to solve the problem and make the product even more perfect. In the end, the problem was solved, resulting in a plate much superior to competing products.

Borplas offers a great advantage in terms of fuel saving, which is one of the most important factors in the cost of airline companies as well as its appearance and the ability to not melt in the oven. The weight of a porcelain dish is 600 grams, and the weight of Borplas is only 110 grams. Considering that there are 250 passengers on an average plane and that there are 2 catering services on an international flight, 250 kilograms are achieved at once. As the meals are loaded into the plane as a return from Turkey, the plane is lighter than 500 kilograms at one time. Thanks to borplas, it is possible to save as much as the weight of an average of 8 passengers at a time. This means a fuel saving of 3 percent.

SEM plastic General Manager Yavuz Eroğlu stated that they have developed products since 1986 for the airline sector and that Borplas is the last point of their experience and expertise in the sector. Eroğlu also stated that thanks to borplas, passengers will be able to eat in an elegant restaurant while airline companies will reduce their fuel costs and airline tickets will be cheaper, contribute to the reduction of foreign trade deficit and protect the environment.
