1. Mr. Yavuz, can you tell us about the theme of this year's Pagev Plastic Industry Congress ?

The subject of this year's Congress was “plastics for a Green World”. Today, at every point of life, plastic making our lives easier and cheaper is actually the biggest alternative for a greener world. Now the world's look at the environment, that is Green, has evolved beyond mere point-and-moment events into a scientific method that takes into account the entire life cycle of any product and the carbon emissions it creates. This scientific method has clearly revealed that plastics are much more greener and greener than any alternative.

Plastic industry has a great dynamism in itself in this regard. Recycling and environmental products are the issues in which the plastic industry has been working on long before social demands have been formed and made great progress. As a matter of fact, we will discuss all the developments in this field with expert companies and participants in the 6th Congress this year.

2. How do you interpret this year's Congress of intense international interest?

First of all, Turkey is a center of attraction worldwide. In 2010, the country's gross domestic product (GDP) increased by almost three times, reaching US dollar 231 billion in 2002 and US dollar 736 billion in 2002, and the per capita income rose from US dollar 3,500 to US dollar 10,079 in the same period.

According to OECD estimates, Turkey will be the fastest growing economy among OECD member countries with an average annual growth rate of 6.7% in 2011-2017.
